It was a historic Monday for Team India at the U Series of Poker (USOP) 2023 with an impressive four Indians clinching trophies. It was Arjanveer Singh Chadha who got the ball rolling with a victory in Event 33: Megastack. Vishal Ojha then followed him by winning the record-breaking main event for a career-high VND 5.75 billion and becoming the first Indian player to achieve this incredible feat.
Later, Sahil Agarwal made headlines when he won Event 39: Single Day High Roller. Adding to the team’s winning streak was Kunal Patni. Patni, one of the most celebrated poker pros in India, overcame a field of 169 entries in Event #34 High Roller: The Finale, bringing India its fifth USOP trophy. Patni’s stellar performance earned him a whopping VND 2.4 Billion (INR 82.5 Lac) top prize.
Patni’s Winning Moment
Patni’s winning hand saw him with Ah Kd against Ethan Luan’s Jd 3s. The Mumbai pro made a 500k pre-flop call. On the flop 7c 3d Ks, Luan checked and Patni bet 1 million, which Luan called. The same sequence was repeated on the turn 6s. The 9h landed on the river. This time around, Patni shoved 51 million after Luan’s check. Luan called. Patni hit a king pair, which earned him the title.
Also on the final table was the the VND 1 Billion GTD Mini High Roller champion Abhinav Iyer who finished in 8th place for VND 319 Million ( INR 10.98 Lac), recording his fourth cash of the series.
