VSOP Championship IX: Zarvan Tumboli Becomes First Indian To Clinch VSOP Main Event Title

Team India continues to rock the Vietnamese felts. On the heels of their stellar performance at the USOP Hanoi 2023 where they clinched five USOP trophies, Indians are now making headlines at the ongoing Vietnam Series of Poker (VSOP) Championship IX. Currently in the spotlight is none other Zarvan Tumboli, who took down the VND 6 Billion GTD Main Event title, taking home a colossal prize of VND 1.57 Billion (INR 53.76 Lac) and becoming the first Indian to achieve this historic feat.

Tumboli, who had garnered over six live titles last year, bested a stacked field of 577 participants in the VSOP Championship IX Main Event, securing his first title of the year. Finally, he clasedh with Picasso who could not go all the way and settled for the runner-up payout worth VND 1.026 Billion.

Both players started the heads-up with nearly identical stacks. Picasso had a little chip advantage, which he managed to extend. Tumboli fought back and overtook the lead to finally ship it. On the final hand, Tumboli had As 3s, while Picasso held 10d 9d.  Tuboli called for 125K. On the flop of 3c 4s 9s, both players hit one pair. Tumboli had the bottom pair, while his rival had the 9-pair. Picasso bet 300K and Tumboli called.  The turn Ac saw saw Picasso bet 500K and raised it to 1.6 Million. Picasso moved all-in for his last 6.30 Million stack, and Tumboli snap-called for 4.70 Million. The river 10d did give Picasso a two pair, but it was no match for Tumboli’s superior two pair, which shipped the title.

The Vietnam Series Of Poker (VSOP) Championship IX Main Event saw Zarvan Tumboli emerge victorious.

Apart from Tumboli, India’s Alok Birewar also made his mark in this event. He the final table and finished sixth, walking away with a hefty VND 313 Million (INR 10.72 Lac) for his remarkable run.

VSOP Championship IX: India’s Anuj Yadav Wins Single Day Single Day High Roller 8-Max

Anuj Yadav, who recently relocated to Vietnam, was another Indian who excelled. He earned a name for himself by winning the VN 33 Million buy-in Single Day High Roller 8-Max. Yadav defeated a field of 39 opponents to win his first live title, taking home a hefty VND 406 Million (INR 13.90 Lac).
