This was the third final-table finish of the year for Tsang. The Hong Kong native got off to a strong start in this tournament, finishing Day 1 as the overall chip leader. Later, he entered the eight-handed final table second in chips just behind Russia’s Ilya Bulychev. The two leaders traded bust-outs early on at the FT, before Quan Zhou and Jason Grey went out in fourth and third places.
It was Tsang who busted Zhou in fourth place (€28,100) and Jason Gray in third place (€39,508) to enter heads-up play as the chip leader with 4,450,000 against Bulychev’s stack of 3,025,000. And Tsang was able to extend his lead to a 3.5-to-1 advantage by the time the final hand arose.
On the final hand with blinds of 40k-80k, Tsang raised to 210,000 with Kh 6h 3h 3s and Bulychev called with Ac 7c 5c 2c. The flop ran out 6s 4h 3d to give Bulychev the nut straight and Tsang a set with threes. Bulychev checked and Tsang bet 180,000. Bulychev check-raised the size of the pot and Tsang shoved all-in from there. Bulychev called and the turn opened Ah, giving Tsang the flush draw. The river was Qh, completing Tsang’s flush to give him the pot and the title. The Russian poker pro – Bulychev had to settle for €56,684 in prizemoney for his remarkable runner-up finish.
