European Poker Tour is Back with Fresh Changes in Season 12

One of the most popular poker tours in the world, the European Poker Tour kicks off in its 12th edition on 19th August in Barcelona. The year-long roster of EPT includes 6 stops culminating into Monte Carlo Grand Final from 26th April to 6th May 2016. However, a few more stops may be added in EPT 2015-16 calendar in coming days. The PokerStars-sponsored series has got a number of changes in table rules, registration rules and a few tweaking in the structure of the games.

EPT Barcelona 19th to 30th August 2015
EPT Malta (St Julian’s) 21st to 31st October 2015
EPT Prague 6th to 16th December 2015
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (Bahamas) 6th to 14th January 2016
EPT Dublin 10th to 20th February 2016
EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final 26th to May 6th April 2016

Season 11 of EPT had 7 stops – Barcelona, London, Prague, Paradise Island, Deaville, Malta and Monte Carlo which saw a total of 375 events, over 66,000 entries and awarded more than €139,000,000 in prize money. Season 12 will steer away from Deauville and London while Dublin has found back its place on the EPT calendar.

A number of changes have been introduced in the new season of EPT starting tomorrow, 16th Aug’15. All these modifications and tweaking can be categorized into 3 section – Table Rules, Structure and Games and Registrations.

New EPT Table Rules

This season poker players will get to play with new chips as well as new 4-color decks. Players may place electronic devices on the rails not on the table surface. If a player is not at the table by the time last card is dealt, he/she can’t play that hand. Players will be prohibited to record table proceedings using phone or any other device.

EPT Structure and Games Changes

New €500 and €5,000 events will be have been added to each stop to offer a variety in games. Sextuple Omaha, Quintuple Stud, Quintuple Draw, Spitsville Dealer’s Choice, High Hand Holdem, Allin or Fold, Big Bet Mix, Dealer’s Choice HORSE will be introduced in Season 12. For rebuy tournaments, players will be able to get rebuys only with chips except for EPT Prague.

EPT Registration Changes

Players can cash out their EPT winnings in PokerStars LIVE balances. They can also use their PS LIVE balances to register for EPT events. Players who qualify through a satellite can receive double the buy-in in cash, with the rest paid to their PokerStars account.
