The person topping this field will inscribe his name in the history books of poker with the prestigious gold bracelet and the top prize of $7,680,021.
Among the Indian players who joined the Main Event action, Akash Malik, Jasven Saigal, Muskan Sethi, Amit Jain, Aditya Agarwal, Sahil Agarwal, Shashank Jain, Raghav Bansal, Rajesh Goyal, Apoorva Goel and Muthukumar Ramamirutha have made it to the Day 2 game. Apoorva (14,600) qualified for Day 2 from Day 1B while Akash Malik (78,900), Jasven (73,775), Muskan (67,000), Raghav (55,375), Muthukumar (48,900) Amit (39,000), Aditya (35,000), Shashank (33,150), Rajesh (25,750) and Sahil (9,250) qualified from Day 1C.
John Gorsuch (198,100) leads the remaining field after completion of Day 1 followed by Zarik Megerdichian (180,400). There were many former WSOP champions out in the field to clinch the glory again and with a number of them making it to the Day 2, the competition is expected to get heated. 2013 Champion Ryan Riess (108,800), Phil Hellmuth (79,725), Daniel Negreanu (73,825), Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier (22,375) and Michael Mizrachi (64,350) are among the notable international pros sailing past the Day 1.
Martin Jacobson, the defending champion couldn’t flag off the main event on Day 1A due to illness. So, it was Donnache O’Dea, who has appeared in each WSOP since 1982, doing the honors. It took approximately 30 minutes to reach the first elimination on Day 1A when Mohammed Ayyash’s pocket aces were demolished by Barny Boatman’s Queens meeting one more Queen on the river. Out of 741 players joined on Day 1, 470 survived for the Day 2 lead by William Kakon (152,325).
1,716 more players joined the Day 1B flight of the 2015 WSOP Main Event after George Danzer, the 2014 WSOP Player of the Year did the honors to announce “Shuffle Up and Deal”. Hamid Feiz (182,675) emerged as the chip lead at the end of the day’s play. Greg Raymer (92,200), Brian Hastings (87,500), Phil Galfond (33,400), George Danzer (96,300) were the notable pros to qualify for Day 2 from Day 1B. The Indian tournament reg Apoorva Goel survived the Day 1B with 14,600 chips to start on Day 2.
3,963 players took a shot at the $10,000 Main Event on Day 1C making it the largest single flight in the WSOP history. A big Indian team including the team sponsored by Adda52 joined the action on Day 1C. In the end, 8 Indian players secured their seats for the Day 2 action.
